Industry
M+P is an independent consultancy firm with specialist knowledge in the field of noise in businesses and industry. In the context of permitting, notifications, spatial developments, and occupational health and safety legislation, our team is ready to support you.
What can we do for you?
Our Business and Industry team knows everything about noise and the associated laws and regulations for companies. In addition, we have (in-depth) knowledge within various industrial sectors. Below you will find a brief overview of our services;
Advice and permit procedures
In permit procedures, it is investigated, among other things, whether a company in the intended business situation can meet the values of the applicable level of protection for homes. Based on calculation models and sometimes also measurements, the noise from the company is mapped and tested. Where necessary, we advise on noise reduction measures. For the purpose of new developments we have a huge database of acoustic data at our disposal, which can be used to draw up an adequate prognosis of the noise emission. Read more about when an acoustic study is required here.
Occupational Health and Safety
Safety in the workplace is important and a priority for many of our customers. To support our customers in the realization of a safe working environment, we offer various control measurements and calculations, including measuring or calculating the noise climate, contour maps, daily doses, body vibrations, and the amount of dust or odor.
Noise engineering
During the design and realization phase of projects at our industrial customers, various acoustic issues are discussed. There is often a need to calculate and monitor noise budgets and, after realization, it must be verified that these budgets, regulations or limit values from a permit have been met. It is also possible that suppliers are commissioned to design installations for which the acoustic specifications have been or must be laid down as part of a tender (ISO 15664), or that support is required in the engineering of an (acoustically desirable) solution.
Construction noise and vibration
In the Netherlands, specific standards apply to construction noise, which depend on the duration of the construction period. The building specifications often stipulate that it must be determined in advance whether the applicable limit values can be met. We regularly support our customers with such forecasts and provide advice where bottlenecks occur. This may relate to the equipment used, the construction method or the advice may be of an organizational nature. We can also monitor whether limit values are exceeded during the realization phase. This way we can help you prevent a construction site from being shut down.
Product development
When developing products and machines, in addition to the functional requirements, the requirements with regard to the noise level produced are sometimes of great importance. We help our customers in this area by providing insight into the critical factors for noise in the design early in the development process. We do this, for example, by measuring a prototype, by showing with an acoustic camera which parts produce sound, or by finding out the primary cause of the sound by means of vibration analysis or modal analysis. We then advise on solutions to reduce the noise, for which we can (if necessary) create a calculation model to forecast the potential reduction.
Combustion related Noise & Vibration
Combustion systems—such as furnaces, boilers, and turbines—can generate complex noise and vibration phenomena that extend beyond conventional mechanical or flow-induced sources. These issues often arise from dynamic interactions between unsteady heat release, flow, the acoustic characteristics of the system, and structural response. The resulting pressure oscillations and vibrations can lead to elevated noise levels, reduced performance, increased mechanical wear, and potential occupational health concerns.
By integrating noise engineering with combustion diagnostics, we help industrial partners understand and mitigate combustion-related noise and vibration at the source, supporting improved operational safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term reliability. Learn more...
